The first of three garden services that has actually done a thorough and professional service, constantly kept me informed of the changing times and dates due to difficulties with the taxi strike. My garden and pavement has never looked so neat and tidy! Friendly, kind and informative owners, please give them a try!

Durbanville trees

Felling a tree in Durbanville

Durbanville sits on the rolling Tygerberg and Koeberg hills, 100 to 240 metres up, and it still has a semi-rural feel. It was called Pampoenkraal, then D'Urban in 1836, and Durbanville from 1886. Much of the old farmland is now estates such as Pinehurst, Graanendal and Clara Anna Fontein, alongside Welgevonden, Eversdal and Kenridge.

The Tygerberg hills are where Swartland Shale Renosterveld, the local bush, once grew most widely. It's now critically endangered, and Port Jackson is a major threat to what's left. Port Jackson is a listed invasive tree that landowners are expected to control, and felling it and digging out the stump is one way to do that.

Not every tree has to go. When one can stay, we cut it back instead. When it has to come down and stands close to a wall, a roof or the neighbour's garden, we bring it down a piece at a time, top first, then cut the trunk low and dig the stump out. There's no set time for a felling: it depends on the size of the tree, where it stands and what's around it.

Durbanville is the furthest out we go on this side of Cape Town, and we come out gladly. We worked in Pinehurst, Durbanville, in September 2026. Every tree is priced from your photos or a look at the job, and the quote is free.

Local rules

Rules to check before a tree comes down

  • Verge trees: a tree on the pavement or verge outside your Durbanville home is on City land. The City of Cape Town says such trees stay City property and need its written approval before anyone prunes or removes them. See what permission you need to cut a tree.
  • Invasive trees: Port Jackson and rooikrans are listed invasive species, and landowners are expected to control them.
  • A fallen tree on a road or power line: call the City's emergency line, 107 from a landline or 021 480 7700 from a cellphone. We don't take emergency or storm call-outs.
  • Taking the waste yourself: check which site and how many loads the City allows on its drop-off facilities page. Or let us take it on our trailer, at R450 a load.
